MedMark Treatment Centers Opens New Facility

MedMark Treatment Centers has opened a new medication-assisted treatment (MAT) facility in the Cincinnati suburb of Milford.

MedMark is a MAT provider that uses methadone and buprenorphine alongside counseling and other services. With nearly 40 programs nationwide, MedMark is part of Lewisville, Texas-based BayMark Health Services, a specialty health care company focused on providing treatment for opioid use disorder.

The new clinic announced it began accepting patients in November.

The location was strategically chosen due to the number of opioid deaths the area has seen in recent years, according to Frank Baumann, COO of BayMark Health Services.

Milford is located in Hamilton and Clermont Counties, which accounted for more than 11% of Ohio’s 4,300 opioid-related deaths in 2017.

“Medication-assisted treatment with substance use counseling provides patients with the best chance for sustained recovery from their addiction and the opportunity to reclaim their lives,” Baumann said in a press release announcing the news. “MedMark can help those struggling with opioid addiction in these areas of significant need throughout Ohio.”

The Milford clinic is the fourth BayMark has opened in Ohio this year under the MedMark name.

The state has been hit especially hard by the opioid epidemic, with the second most opioid overdose deaths per capita nationwide in 2017. Nearly 40 in 100,000 people died of opioid overdose in Ohio that year.

It was beat out only by West Virginia, which had the most opioid overdose deaths in 2017. There, nearly 50 in 100,000 people died of an opioid overdose.
