Eleanor Health opens new North Carolina center
Waltham, Massachusetts-based Eleanor Health, a provider of addiction treatment services for opioids and other substances, recently opened its fourth North Carolina location in Hickory.
The new location will provide services both at its outpatient facility and in patients’ homes.
Six more Eleanor locations are planned in North Carolina, and the organization also has plans to open facilities in other states, according to the Hickory Daily Record.
Eleanor Health was established last year with financial assistance from New York City-based health care investment firms Oxeon Partners and Town Hall Ventures.
New autism education services company launches
A new company has launched to provide training and education to caregivers and clinicians working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as to affected families.
Spectrum Strategy Group, which is based out of Boston, is led by Executive Director Ilia Walsh.
A corporate trainer who has worked with companies such as GE Capital, Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) and UBS (NYSE:UBS), Walsh has also previously worked with various autism experts, including pioneering academic and autism spokesperson Temple Grandin.
Caravel expands services in Twin Cities
Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Caravel Autism Health, which operates ASD treatment centers around the upper Midwest, has begun opening additional facilities in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
Caravel recently opened a new facility late last month in Mankato, Minnesota. The provider announced that over the next three months, it will also open new centers in Plymouth, White Bear Lake and Woodbury, Minnesota.
Caravel specializes in providing diagnoses and customized treatment plans for ASD. The company additionally operates facilities throughout Wisconsin, as well as in the Chicago area.
New Pennsylvania counseling and therapy center opens
Pennsylvania’s Cumberland Valley has added a new behavioral health counseling and therapy facility for children, teenagers, adults and families.
Located in Mechanicsburg, the Valley Counseling Center services Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and York counties, providing assistance to individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and other issues, according to the Patriot-News.
VA opens mental health clinic in El Paso
A 24,000-square-foot clinic operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has opened in El Paso, Texas, with a focus on the mental wellness care of veterans.
The new VA clinic is designed to provide dedicated mental health services to El Paso-area veterans, while allowing the city’s main VA Hospital — where the previous clinic was located — to have more space to deliver other types of care.
The new standalone mental health VA clinic is the first of its kind in the El Paso area, according to TV station KFOX, and is located near the campus of Texas Tech University’s Health Sciences Center-El Paso.

Planned People USA Detox Center Gets the Nod
Greenport, New York officials have approved plans for the construction of a 20-bed detox center in town.
People USA, a Poughkeepsie, New York-based nonprofit provider of behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services, submitted the proposal for the 10,610-square-foot, single-story facility at a January public meeting. Greenport is located on the eastern end of Long Island.
It will provide medically supervised withdrawal services and treatment referrals, according to Hudson Valley 360. A target date for the center’s opening has been set for between nine and 12 months from now.
