Acadia, Covenant Health break ground on new behavioral hospital
Acadia Healthcare (Nasdaq: ACHC) and Covenant Health have officially started construction on their newest inpatient behavioral health hospital, East Tennessee Behavioral Health.
Franklin, Tennessee-based Acadia is a behavioral health provider that operates nearly 600 behavioral health facilities across the U.S., the U.K. and Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, Covenant is a community-owned health system that provides comprehensive services across Tennessee.
The organizations, which first announced the joint venture in 2019, held a virtual groundbreaking for East Tennessee Behavioral Health Wednesday.
The $33.3 million state-of-the-are facility is being built on 10 acres in West Knoxville. It will have 90 beds, with the potential to eventually add another 48, and serve patients with mental health conditions and substance use disorders (SUD).
East Tennessee Behavioral Health is scheduled to open in fall of 2021.
