Construction starts on $357 million psych hospital

Crews have started construction on a $357 million psychiatric facility in Texas, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

The site, which will have 300 beds and private rooms for all patients, will eventually serve as a replacement for the San Antonio State Hospital. It’s expected to open in 2024. In the meantime, the state psychiatric hospital will continue serving patients out of its current location.

Savida adds new MAT facility

SaVida Health — a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) provider serving patients with drug and alcohol use disorders — has opened a new outpatient MAT center in Greenfield, Massachusetts.

This is SaVida’s fifth location in the state. It plans to open a sixth in October, according to a press release announcing the news.

Overall, the MAT provider operates 20 outpatient treatment centers across Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Virginia and Delaware. The PE firm Council Capital made a control investment in the company back in 2017.

Crossroads expands New Jersey footprint

Meanwhile, another MAT provider is expanding its footprint in the Garden State.

Crossroads Treatment Centers, which specializes in MAT for opioid use disorder (OUD), has opened a new center in Neptune City, New Jersey. The location marks the 13th in the state.

Overall, Crossroads — which is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina — has more than 90 treatment facilities across 10 states. It is a portfolio company of the PE firm Revelstoke Capital Partners.

Little Leaves opens latest ABA center

Little Leaves Behavioral Services has opened a new applied behavioral analysis (ABA) center in Alexandria, Virginia.

Like its other locations, Little Leaves’s new 8,000-square-foot center will provide ABA services for children ages 1 to 6 and be run in a pre-school-like setting. It can serve up to 36 clients.

Silver Spring, Maryland-based Little Leaves is a division of the special education and instructional intervention solutions provider Catapult Learning. The ABA provider operates at least six centers in Maryland, Virginia and Florida. It’s currently planning new locations in those states, as well as to plant its flag in Connecticut, according to a press release.

Caravel adds new center

Caravel Autism Health — a PE-backed provider of diagnostic and therapeutic services for children with autism — has opened a new center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Caravel specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis and ABA treatment of children with autism. Those services will all be available at its new location.

In total, the midwestern provider of ABA services operates nearly 30 centers across Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 2018, the company snagged a strategic investment from Frazier Healthcare Partners, a PE and venture capital firm based in Seattle.
