Pipeline: Hazelden Betty Ford Grows Virtual Footprint; Caravel’s Imagine Expanding

Caravel’s Imagine opens new center

Imagine, a Caravel Autism Health company, has announced plans to open a new center in the Seattle-Tacoma area.

Founded in 2011 and based in the Pacific Northwest, Imagine provides diagnostic and treatment services to children with autism. It currently has about half a dozen locations across Idaho and Washington state.

In 2019, Imagine became part of Caravel, a PE-backed autism services provider with locations across Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. Today, Imagine provides services in center-, home-, community- and school-based settings.

The provider’s newest location is set to open this November in Federal Way, Washington. The center will offer applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapy for children in center- and home-based settings.

Hazelden Betty Ford virtually expands across Colorado

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation can now treat patients across the state of Colorado, regardless of where they live. The addiction treatment provider recently gained approval to provide its virtual intensive outpatient (IOP) services to residents across the state.

Based in Center City, Minnesota, Hazelden Betty Ford is the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of addiction treatment. It has 17 locations across the country, where it offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment options for adolescents and adults. It also boasts a graduate school of addiction studies, a publishing division, an advocacy arm, an addiction research center and more.

The nonprofit is also growing its RecoveryGo telehealth solutions. After first piloting virtual IOP treatment in 2019, it accelerated telehealth adoption when COVID-19 hit in March.

So far, Hazelden Betty Ford’s virtual IOP treatment seems to be working well, with “little to no difference” between on-site and virtual IOP patients when it comes to important outcome measures such as cravings, mental health symptoms, sobriety and more.

The provider’s recent expansion into Colorado marks the 10th state where Hazelden Betty Ford is providing such services. On top of that, it has plans to soon expand its virtual services into Wisconsin and other states, according to the press release announcing the news.

Outreach Recovery continues mid-Atlantic growth

Outreach Recovery has opened a number of new locations across central Maryland.

Headquartered in Bowie, Maryland, Outreach specializes in treating patients with co-occuring mental health conditions and SUDs. As one of the largest MAT programs in the mid-Atlantic, it has locations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New Jersey.
