Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Sacramento, Community Psychiatry provides a variety of virtual and in-person behavioral health services to patients across California. It has about 45 locations across the state.

Meanwhile, Harbor Psychologist, Inc. serves patients in the greater Long Beach, California area. It offers everything from mental health evaluations and psychological testing to medication management, therapy, counseling and more. Plus, its clinicians speak a variety of languages in addition to English, including Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Tagalog, Russian, Ukrainian, Punjabi, Urdu and Hebrew.

As part of the deal, Harbor Psychologist will rebrand under the Community Psychiatry name, according to a press release announcing the news.

The acquisition comes just a few weeks after Community Psychiatry’s new CEO Christopher Brengard told Behavioral Health Business he had his eyes on transforming the regional behavioral health provider into a national one.

“We’re evaluating which markets around the country that we think we can best serve and best have an impact,” Brengard previously told Behavioral Health Business. “As we identify those markets, we’ll look to see if we can find high quality providers to partner with. Once we partner with those providers and move into those markets, we intend to work with those local doctors to decide what access care is needed, and we’ll hopefully fill in the cracks with de novo and with recruitment of the new clinicians into that market.”
