Transactions: BayMark Company Buys OTP Provider; Community Psychiatry’s Latest Acquisition

Community Psychiatry purchases Harbor Psychologist

Community Psychiatry — an growing outpatient behavioral health provider — has announced acquisition of Harbor Psychologist, Inc — which provides a range of psychiatric and psychological services to children and adults.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Sacramento, Community Psychiatry provides a variety of virtual and in-person behavioral health services to patients across California. It has about 45 locations across the state.

Meanwhile, Harbor Psychologist, Inc. serves patients in the greater Long Beach, California area. It offers everything from mental health evaluations and psychological testing to medication management, therapy, counseling and more. Plus, its clinicians speak a variety of languages in addition to English, including Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Tagalog, Russian, Ukrainian, Punjabi, Urdu and Hebrew.

As part of the deal, Harbor Psychologist will rebrand under the Community Psychiatry name, according to a press release announcing the news.

The acquisition comes just a few weeks after Community Psychiatry’s new CEO Christopher Brengard told Behavioral Health Business he had his eyes on transforming the regional behavioral health provider into a national one.

“We’re evaluating which markets around the country that we think we can best serve and best have an impact,” Brengard previously told Behavioral Health Business. “As we identify those markets, we’ll look to see if we can find high quality providers to partner with. Once we partner with those providers and move into those markets, we intend to work with those local doctors to decide what access care is needed, and we’ll hopefully fill in the cracks with de novo and with recruitment of the new clinicians into that market.”

BayMark’s AppleGate Recovery acquires Redemption Recovery

AppleGate Recovery, which is owned by BayMark Health Services, has acquired Redemption Recovery, a provider of office-based opioid treatment programs (OTPs).

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AppleGate Recovery is a provider of outpatient medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD). It has more than dozens of locations across eight states, where it provides medication therapy using buprenorphine and buprenorphine compounds, in addition to counseling and other recovery services. In 2017, the company was acquired by BayMark, a provider of MAT for OUD.

Headquartered in Lewisville, Texas, BayMark has more than 250 locations across the US and Canada, where it offers a variety of treatment modalities. It’s owned by Webster Equity Partners.

Meanwhile, Redemption Recovery has five office-based OTPs in Jackson, Tennessee. It provides patients buprenorphine and Suboxone MAT, as well as counseling, in a physician’s office setting.

AppleGate’s acquisition of Redemption Recovery brings its total number of programs up to 27 and marks its expansion into West Tennessee, according to a press release announcing the news.

Learn Behavioral buys Behavior Analysis Center for Autism

Learn Behavioral has acquired Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA). Both companies provide applied behavioral analysis (ABA).

Financial terms of the transaction were not released.

Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, Learn Behavioral specializes in personalized family-focused ABA therapy for children and young adults with autism. Its provider network includes nearly 60 locations across 15 states and the District of Columbia.

Meanwhile, BACA has four locations across the state of Indiana. It also offers individualized ABA therapy, specifically for those between the ages of 2 and 21.

Under the deal, BACA will continue to operate under its current brand, as Learn Behavioral’s other providers do. Additionally, Learn will make “significant investments” in BACA, according to a press release announcing the news. Some examples include providing ongoing training for clinicians and incorporating the latest ABA research at BACA.

CM Counsel Management enters strategic partnership with Savia Community Counseling Services

CM Counsel Management LLC, an outpatient behavioral health platform, has entered into a strategic partnership with Savia Community Counseling Services LLC, a New Jersey-based provider of in-home behavioral health care and counseling for children and families.

As part of the partnership, CM Counsel Management will invest in Savia’s practice to help it hire more clinicians, bolster its IT infrastructure, expand its training capabilities, refine its compliance toolkit and develop a comprehensive outpatient behavioral health agency to serve New Jerseyans, according to a press release announcing the news.

Savida — which has about 50 clinicians who provide a wide range of therapies and interventions — will keep its existing name. Meanwhile CM Counsel Management will oversee Savia’s operations, finances and marketing initiatives.

CM Counsel Management also manages three behavioral health centers in the Philadelphia area.
