Owl Health Chosen by RCA for Patient Outcomes Measurement Platform

Cloud-based behavioral health company Owl Health announced a partnership Monday with the Recovery Centers of America (RCA), where it will provide its measurement-based care (MBC) platform to the treatment operator.

The MBC platform contains a library of over 250 evidence-based measures, with collected data used by providers to assess clinical outcomes of patients being treated for various behavioral health conditions.

RCA will implement the platform at its ten inpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facilities across six states.

“Owl will assist RCA with the delivery of a breadth of evidence-based measures and actionable data that is both patient-friendly and burden-free for clinicians,” Kerry King, RCA’s vice president of clinical services, said in a press release.

Founded in 2013, Portland, Oregon-based Owl works with behavioral health operators to provide precision management solutions, with the goal of enabling value-based care. Among the health systems nationwide that currently use Owl are Pennsylvania-based Main Line Health, Illinois-based Amita Health, Virginia-based Inova Health, Arizona-based Polara Health and the Aurora Mental Health Center in Aurora, Colorado.

“With Owl, RCA will have an enhanced ability to demonstrate our clinical integrity and ensure ongoing innovation of care based on patient data and outcomes,” Caitlin Lewis, RCA’s vice president of administrative services, said in the press release.

In recent years, Owl Health — which in June rebranded itself from its moniker of Owl Insights — announced the implementation of its MBC platform for organizations like the American Psychiatric Association, as well as providers such as Centerstone of America. To date, the company has raised $16.4 million, according to fundraising tracking site Crunchbase

“In the face of today’s behavioral health crisis, improving clinical measurements should be a key goal for all behavioral health organizations,” Owl President and CEO Eric Meier said in the press release. “But this goal can only be achieved with actionable data that comes from measurement-based care. We are truly honored to partner with an industry leader such as RCA and provide them with the data insights they need to treat their patients in the most efficient and effective way.”

Headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, RCA operates inpatient and outpatient facilities across Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois and Indiana.
