Eleanor Health Inc. revealed a value-based care partnership that it says is the first of its kind in the state of Washington.
The Waltham, Massachusetts-based addiction treatment provider announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with the managed care organization Amerigroup Washington to provide care to its members struggling with substance use disorder and other mental health issues.
The partnership aims to reduce the total cost of care and improve key outcome metrics, according to a news release.
As part of the deal, Eleanor will provide proactive outreach and comprehensive clinical services. These include increased access to medications for substance use disorder, psychiatry and mental health care, group and individual therapy, nurse care management and peer support.
“From the beginning, Amerigroup’s leaders understood that a different approach is needed to make a real impact, and together we have developed a unique population health management model that will enable our care team to provide the services that members need, when they need them,” Eleanor Health CEO and Co-founder Corbin Petro said in the release.
Amerigroup members can receive services in person at one of Eleanor’s clinics in Everett, Seattle, and Lakewood, or anywhere statewide via Eleanor’s telehealth platform.
The agreement isn’t the first value-based partnership Eleanor Health has established. The company announced a similar arrangement with Point32Health, a Massachusetts-based insurer at the end of 2021.In May 2021, Eleanor Health secured $20 million in Series B funding to expand its value-based approach to providing substance-use disorder treatment.
Across the behavioral health industry, operators see embracing value-based care as a key opportunity in the coming year. Behavioral Health Business’ 2022 Industry Outlook report, released on Monday, shows that pursuing value-based care relationships is second only to expanding service offerings in terms of the greatest opportunities for the year.
