Resilience Lab Hires WeWork Vet to Jump-Start Growth

New York City-based hybrid mental health provider Resilience Lab has added three high-level leaders to its management team.

On Wednesday, Resilience Lab announced it hired Patrick Morselli as chief operating officer, John Hamby as general manager, and Alyssa Lin as head of growth.

The hires are key to the company’s expansion strategy. All three have work experience with top-flight, fast-growing startups, according to the release.

Founded in 2019 as a hyper-local New York borough-based therapy provider, the company has shifted to providing both in-person and telehealth services for psychiatry and psychotherapy across several states.

Morselli formerly worked at WeWork Inc. (NYSE: WE) as head of global expansion. He oversaw WeWork’s growth from a company operating in five markets to more than 200 markets and valuation growth from $300 million to $10 billion in under three years.

In his new role, he will oversee strategic operations and enact growth plans.

“Patrick, John and Alyssa bring a remarkable combination of strategy, growth and leadership experience to Resilience Lab, and will be instrumental as we continue to provide even more people with access to mental healthcare across the country,” Marc Goldberg, co-founder and CEO of Resilience Lab, said in the release.

The company has also promoted existing managers Stephen O’Beirne to vice president of payer and enterprise, Michele Moorman to vice president of people, and Alisa Hausmann to assistant director of billing.

Hamby will oversee day-to-day operations while Lin will oversee talent acquisition and ensure that scaling actions are appropriate, the release states.

Hamby previously worked as executive director for nonprofit Phoenix Community Alliance. He also was a regional leader in Arizona for the hotel startup OYO and the transportation startup Uber. He led the regional launch of the latter and worked as regional manager of community engagement.

Lin most immediately worked as the chief operating officer for the New York City-based firm MarketSmiths Content Strategists. From April 2017 to August 2020, she was the director of portfolio strategy for Airbnb.

“Resilience Lab has been in a period of phenomenal growth as the company continues to scale and provide greater access to mental healthcare,” Morselli said in the release. “I look forward to deploying my experience to help turbocharge the next stage of its expansion.”

In April, the company announced it would expand throughout the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Data maintained by Mental Health America finds that these states have some of the highest prevalence of mental illness in the nation.

Last month, Resilience Lab added Pennsylvania and Massachusetts to its footprint. Resilience Lab employs more than 250 people, 200 of which are providers, Goldberg told BHB in a previous interview.

Resilience Lab aims to get a leg up on hiring during the mental health provider shortage through university partnerships and the creation of its own accredited continuing education entity called Resilience Institute.
On Monday, BHB reported that Connecticut-based Aware Recovery care also made hiring moves in its C-suite.
