“Her impressive health care background and passion for patient care is unmatched,” Dr. Tom Britton, CEO of American Addiction Centers, said in a statement. “EJ’s expertise will be an invaluable addition to the leadership team and for the future of our company.”

Boschert was the chief operating officer for Chicago-based Midwest Vision Partners LLC immediately before joining American Addiction Centers. Midwest Vision is a private equity-backed eye care company that operates over 70 locations in five states.

Boschert also previously served as the chief operating officer and chief experience officer roles at Maitland, Florida-based Colonial Management Group LP which operates as New Seasons at 78 offices in 22 states.

Founded in 2007, American Addiction Centers has 12 locations in eight states.

The company’s last chief operating officer, Michael Nanko, resigned in 2019, before the company emerged from a 2020 bankruptcy proceeding. It hasn’t had a chief operating officer since then.

A Delaware court approved the company’s Chapter 11 financial restructuring plan in October 2020. It filed for bankruptcy protection in June 2020 after amassing $517.3 million of debt. The company was also delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in 2019.

Britton’s predecessor outlined the company’s turnaround plan in a 2020 interview with Behavioral Health Business. The company named Britton CEO in February after being the CEO of Chicago-based Gateway Foundation, one of the largest non-profit addiction treatment providers in the U.S., for about seven years.

“With my passion for employee engagement, I’m also looking forward to enhancing the company culture at AAC, which ultimately improves the patient care experience,” Boschert said in the release. “I consider it an honor to be a part of a team that’s transforming lives every day.”
