Integrative Life Network Expands into New Mexico with Acquisition of Shadow Mountain Recovery Centers

Integrative Life Network has acquired Taos, New Mexico-based addiction treatment provider Shadow Mountain Recovery Centers.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Nashville, Tennessee-based Integrative Life Network gains a new state market through the deal. It also extends its “evidence-based trauma-resolution modalities” to Shadow Mountain Recovery Centers’ patients.

Shadow Mountain Recovery Centers operates in four New Mexico cities. It offers outpatient and detox services in Albuquerque, women’s residential services in Santa Fe, and men’s residential services and men’s detox services in Taos and Rio Rancho, respectively.

The organization is also in-network with several insurance companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, Aetna, Cigna Corp., Magellan Health, and the military health plan Tricare for outpatient care.

“ILN is committed to providing the best trauma-focused care, and this partnership with Shadow Mountain will enable us to expand our services,” Christi Cessna, CEO of Integrative Life Network, said in the release. “With the natural landscape of the Southwest, it is a spiritual healing environment where clients can safely explore patterns that no longer serve them to find lasting recovery.”

Integrative Life Network got its start in 2018 when the former CEO of the parking management company Premier Parking Ryan Chapman acquired a majority stake in the Nashville, Tennessee-based Integrative Life Center of Nashville. The Integrative Life Center was founded in 2010. Chapman is the chairman of Integrative Life Network.

Cessna joined the company as the chief development and marketing officer of the Integrative Life Center in 2019. She was named CEO in 2021.

Integrative Life Network operates treatment centers and other programs that address trauma, mental health, eating disorders, substance use, sex addiction and intimacy disorders.

These include residential treatment facilities, partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP).

Before the Shadow Mountain Recovery Centers deal, Integrative Life Network operated three different brands — the Integrative Life Center in the Nashville, Tennessee area and the Begin Again Institute and Boulder Recovery in Boulder, Colorado.

The Integrative Life Center primarily focuses on substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health conditions. The Begin Again Institute and Boulder Recovery both focus on sex addiction treatment and intimacy issues. The former offers care through a secular program while the latter includes a Christian element in its care.

In November, Integrative Life Network expanded the Integrative Life Center of Nashville with a new location in Chattanooga, Tennessee that offers PHP and IOP services for mental health and SUDs. It also announced the opening of an IOP location in Oxford, Mississippi in November.

The deal, announced on Dec. 27, capped off a year where several deals got significant attention. Also in December, the virtual behavioral health reality company BehaVR merged with OxfordVR and raised $13 million.
