Caravel Autism Health Opens New Center

Caravel Autism Health has opened a new applied behavior analysis (ABA) center for children on the spectrum.

In total, the midwestern provider of ABA services operates nearly 30 centers across Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The new center, which opened in Bloomington, Minnesota, is Caravel’s eighth in the state. It’s location is strategic, as Minnesota has higher autism rates than the national average.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in 54 children in the U.S. has autism. In Minnesota, however, that rate is one in 44.

In addition to providing ABA treatment, Caravel’s team also specializes in evaluation and diagnosis of autism.

“Families with questions about whether their children were on the autism spectrum were encountering significant wait times for seeing specialists,” Jackie Vick, vice president of Minnesota clinical operations for Caravel, said in a press release announcing the news. “These delays are significant because timing is critical. The earlier we can begin providing intensive ABA therapy for children with autism, the greater the gains can be in learning, communication and social skills.”
