Center for Social Dynamics Makes Fifth Autism Acquisition, Solidifying Presence in Washington

Alameda, California-based Center for Social Dynamics announced it acquired South Sound Behavior Therapy (SSBT), deepening its presence in Washington state.

SSBT concentrates its operations on the Seattle and Olympia metros, according to a news release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Center for Social Dynamics (CSD) is an autism treatment provider that offers applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapy to children in home-based settings. It was founded in 2012 by CEO Pete Pallares.

“The partnership expands and solidifies CSD’s presence within Washington state, an effort and growth avenue we’ve been focused on and actively cultivating since our partnership with [NMS Capital],” Pallares said in the release.

NMS Capital invested in CSD in 2019, recapitalizing the company and giving it “a substantial capital commitment” to support CSD’s growth.

David Peterson, managing director at NMS Capital, said CSD’s acquisition of SSBT fits within the firm’s strategy of partnering with “founder-owned, fast-growing ABA companies within existing and adjacent geographies.”

“The CSD team has excelled at integrating our past acquisitions and driving economies of scale across the platform, and we have the utmost confidence in their ability to integrate and support SSBT in the same fashion,” Peterson said.

In May, Behavioral Health Business reported that CSD acquired JF Autism Services, which serves families in Washington and Idaho. Since landing backing from NMS Capital, CSD has completed acquisitions that expand its footprint from Northern California, Oregon, and Hawaii to also include Southern California, Washington, Idaho and Colorado.

Breakwater Advisors served as buyside advisors to CSD. McDermott Will & Emery provided legal advice to NMS Capital and CSD. Quarles & Brady provided legal advice to SSBT.
