Wallingford, Connecticut-based Aware Recovery Care announced Monday that it named Dr. Andrea Auxier president of the company.
She joined the company in May 2021 as chief growth officer. As president, Auxier will lead the execution of the company’s vision, strategies and goals with a primary focus on best practices, innovation, quality and profitability, according to a news release.
Auxier has had a wide-ranging career as a clinical psychologist and health care executive. She previously worked as a senior vice president for Quartet Health, chief commercial officer for New Directions Behavioral Health and as national director of integration focusing on strategy and development for Beacon Health Option.
She is also a longtime advocate of the community health center program; she has worked with federally qualified health centers in several capacities, including as the director of research at Colorado’s Health Center Controlled Network and as a clinical consultant for the Bureau of Primary Health Care, the release states.
An undergraduate of Cornell University, she earned a master’s degree from New York University and a Ph.D. and master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts — Boston. She also completed postgraduate work at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

The company provides addiction treatment and many other supporting services to patients and their families in the home, a stark contrast from the facility-based addiction care industry. By providing care in the home, Aware Recovery Care is attempting to carve out a new avenue of care in the addiction treatment industry.
Aware Recovery Care landed $22 million in Series A funding and hopes to eventually have operations in all 50 states. It presently operates in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, Florida and Indiana, according to the news release. The company is in-network with Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM).
